Want to be as rich as Bill Gates?

Image
First, here's a question for you: how much money do you really need? Who doesn't need money? What's more, we want a lot of it. And we are always looking out for ways to earn more. Have you asked yourself how much is that 'more'? Just how much will satisfy you? Because, beyond a certain point, any amount will not matter. If you are satisfied with Rs 5 crore (Rs 50 million), the pleasure you derive from Rs 20 crore (Rs 200 million) or Rs 25 crore (Rs 250 million) is no different. In economics, this is known as the theory of diminishing marginal utility. You may be excited at making your first million, even more at making Rs 5 million. It may climax at Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore). Thereafter, for each additional million you make, the excitement reduces. And, beyond Rs 500 million, it hardly makes a difference. AS shown graphically above. So what is my point? There is only one Bill Gates, Richard Branson or L N Mittal in the world. Everyone is not as l...

It's not money but U

Money, this is the thing which is my weakness. Money this is the thing which is controlling me. After 21 years of my life in the battle between me and the money I still need to win in the race. There is a progress in me now but still how many years it take to win over the money is a million dollar question? There is a incident in my life from which money took a higher seat. During my sixth class holidays I used to attend a special mathematics class at my school which is three kilometers away from my home. To go to school the only transport is through a bus which costs a rupee to go to school or else we must go either by cycle or by walk. Since I have not had a cycle I used to go by bus. I wanted to buy a hand videogame which costs around Rupees 270 and my father told that he can’t buy it to me. So I thought I must earn that money by saving it. In order to save the money I need to walk from the school to my home for saving that one rupee. I have done it all through my holidays some time...

MANAGEMENT LESSON

nce PVNR (PV Narasimha Rao), L.K.Advani and Laloo Prasad Yadav were travelling in an auto rickshaw. They met with an accident and all three of them died. Yama Raja was waiting for this moment at the doorstep of death. He asks PVNR and Advani to go to HEAVEN. But, for Laloo, Yama had already decided that he should be sent to HELL. Laloo is not at all happy with this decision. He asks Yama as to why this discrimination is being made. Yama agrees to this and asks all the three of them to appear for an English test. PVNR is asked to spell "INDIA" and he does it correctly. Advani is asked to spell "ENGLAND" and he too passes. It is Laloo's turn and he is asked to spell "CZECHOSLOVAKIA". Laloo protests that he doesn't know English. He says this is not fair and that he was given a tough question and thus forced to fail with false intent. Having been a student of history (which the other two weren't), he now requested for all the 3 to be subjected to a...

Resilience is must in life

Have u ever seen bamboo trees bend under pressure from the wind? Then u must have noticed them return gracefully to their upright or original position after the wind had died down. When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to bounce back or return to it's original position, the word resilience comes to mind. When used in reference to a person this word means the ability to readily recover from shock, depression or any other situation that stretches the limits of a person's emotions. Have you ever felt like you are about to snap Have you ever felt like you are at your breaking point Thankfully, you have survived the experience to live to talk about it. During the experience you probably felt a mix of emotions that threatened your health. You felt emotionally drained, mentally exhausted and you most likely endured unpleasant physical symptoms. Life is a mixture of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. The next time you are experiencing one of those b...

YOUR VALUE

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthl...

A Lot in Short

A group of working adults got together to visit their University lecturer. The lecturer was happy to see them. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. The Lecturer just smiled and went to the kitchen to get an assortment of cups - some porcelain, some in plastic, some in glass, some plain looking and some looked rather expensive and exquisite. The Lecturer offered his former students the cups to get drinks for themselves. When all the students had a cup in hand with water, the Lecturer spoke: "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal that you only want the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all you wanted was water, not the cup, but we unconsciously went for the better cups." "Just like in life, if Life is Water, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold/maintain Life, bu...

A Frog's Desire

Once upon a time, there was a frog that lived at the pond in the temple. One morning it had watched a monk go out for alms, and later coming back to the temple to eat his breakfast. After doing so, he saw the monk go on to feed a chicken. This had got the frog thinking and shortly after, it had wished it was a chicken, because surely, it was better to a chicken rather than a monk. Soon after, a dog had come onto the scene and chased away the chicken. After seeing this, the frog then had a change of thought, and now wished it was a dog. While it was thinking and wishing, a temple boy had come along and kicked the dog and chased it away. When the frog had seen this, it soon wished of becoming a man. The frog continued to watch as the boy went to sleep under the monk’s house. While trying to sleep, he was being pestered by a fly and so had to move. When the frog saw this, it started thinking again, that since a man can be defeated by a fly, it was better to be a fly and so now...

And then I was dying for my children to grow up enough for school so I could return to school, And then I was dying to retire, And now, I am dying..........And suddenly I realize I forgot to live.
