Firing People & Gracious Kill

Firing people is a common practice in american culture. It just comes so naturally to americans. This is a way of  eradicating bottleneck, conflict or problem. When ever there is a discussion in the MBA class or a casual  chit chatting with the american students, firing is one of the first answers I hear when it comes to people related problems. Every time I hear firing from my fellow class mates, I wonder do they know what that means.

Firing people is the most toughest thing. Many companies will outsource it to third parties. The firing manager must have a strong mind set. The after effect of firing people is so exhausting and disturbing. The top management do not look firing as people thing, they look it in terms of money for the obvious reasons.

Firing people gets manipulates into break ups in terms of personal relationships. Eventually you are doing the same thing, sending people out from your life. Break-ups can be with anybody.Either professionally or personally sending out people is quite a big task. Most people will try to save their faces. Some times organizations just stick the names of the fired employees on a board and ask them to not come back.I still remember the firing day at one of my employers, everybody in the organization were in severe tension and their heart beats were above abnormal almost throughout out the day. The fired people would eventually treated like objects and removed.

If firing the people cannot be bypassed why don't we do it like a "Gracious Kill" concept as shown in the Avatar movie? Making the process much more human centric would help people bare the pain and disgrace. People are so attached to things because they are afraid of losing them. It takes courage to let go and simply wait for the what happens next.Give them some courage before you let them go.
