The New ‘MY’Tattoo
It took nearly three and half years to get the new tattoo
inked on my body. This tattoo has a special significance to me as it represents
me psychologically and emotionally. The inception of the idea of getting
tattooed has begun when I met Aparna Sarepaka (alias Appy) who is an amazing artist (One
of few best artists I have known till date) and was amazed by her designs and
sketches. I asked her whether she could help me out in sketching myself for a
tattoo. She agreed and asked me to fill a template about likes / dislikes and
interests /disinterests. She actually sent me some designs but those are
cluttered and needed some modifications. I requested her to do the same. Meanwhile
she got busy with her exams and then with her life and the project went on HOLD.Then I worked independently looking lot of designs in different cultures and trying to match to my philosophy in life.Nothing got materialized.
After sometime I met Tejaswi Damaraju , an architect with
immense interest in designing and sketching, through a common friend. She is irrationally rational and her
attention to detail is simply amazing. Topping to that she is a good researcher
and equally good listener. I shared the same template to her and she took her time and after almost
six to eight months she completed the design. I really liked the design but she
is not certain about the finishing. Here is how the design looked:
Design Description: It's a spade. Spade symbolizes the death of something old and the birth of a new opportunity. The spade also symbolizes understanding and action. With each experience we learn something and become new altogether.
The right edge is spiral curve indicating Fibonacci series. Nature (life) evolves in fibonacci pattern. Even the matrimandir at Pondicherry is designed in this pattern. It's everywhere. The idea of combining the evolution in fibonacci series with that of Spade is that I am someone who had to keep fighting to do what I wanted to do and keep rediscovering myself.
The edges also represents the masculines( coming from X genes) and feminines (coming from Y genes)qualities in a man. Both should be in balanced quantities to make a man a human being.
Coming back to the story. Amin, a brilliant tattoo artist entered the scene while Teju is finding it difficult to close the design. He loves his job diligently. While doing tattooing someone came and asked him how r u? He replied “ MAJE PER
HUUH” (I am having fun). It is very rare to found a person who does what he
loves. We found him on Facebook. It took four months to approach him. He really
liked the design and just made minor modifications to make the design sharp.
Amin actually has brought more liveliness or in short brought life to the
Teju’s design. After watching Amin’s work I can see how my first tattoo
artist had screwed up the design while tattooing on my body. With Amin the
entire thing ended on a good note. I especially liked his filling part during
the work. It is just A-W-E-S-O-M-E. In case if anybody wants to contact check
out his website http://www.angeltattooz.com.

PS: Amin's studio is very artistic.
PPS: Thanks Aparna , Teju, Amin and myself for making this
happen.
PPPS: Felt extremely thrilled when I touched my tattoo.
