Chocolate alias Chakri
I am making it official now, my new nick name would be "Chocolate." Considering the difficulty of people from other cultures having pronouncing my name and to save them of being guilt for unable to pronounce my name correctly,I took this decision. I have even tested my new nick name on children, recruiters at the career fairs and strangers and the results are significantly positive. When I allow people to call me chocolate, there is big relief followed by huge smile in their faces. Couldn't ask for more. If your name makes someone smile, isn't it amazing!!!.The conversation followed henceforth is much more relaxing and engaging. Most of all my new nick name, if not anything else, would be easy to remember.
Thanks to my chinese friends who have given me such a memorable name. Initially, I was so pissed off when I say my name almost all chinese got it as "chocolate."I thought of shouting at them that there is a light year distance between Chakravarthy and Chocolate. Even today I am not sure how come they hear chocolate when I say Chakravarthy. Anyhow, chocolate is like a ice breaker in any conversation with strangers especially gals when compared to Chakri or Chakravarthy. Just imagine how cheesy it would be when I say " My name is Chocolate and I am desirable and delicious !!!!. :P "
There are couple more instances where I used chocolate as my name and the results were terrific:
Firstly, I went to my classmate house for a casual get together after our exams and introduced to his 6 yrs old daughter AGAIN. It was pitiful on me, she was having difficulty in remembering my name even though we met couple of times. I could not able to see guilt in her face. So, I asked her to call me Chocolate and she was relieved. I saw twinkle in her eyes and lightening in her face. She was excited to call me Chocolate. Even after I left the house, she went to her dad and said in excitement that " I met Mr.Chocolate" and she is running all over the place announcing that. Delightful :) .
Secondly, I met lot of recruiters at career fairs, most of them were not young enough and who ever were young cannot pronounce "RR" sound in my name. When I say my name is Chakri, they try to pronounce it properly but 99% of times they fail and feel awkward about it. This was affecting my conversations I was having. Moreover if they ask me to e-mail them about my details, I have to differentiate in some way from rest of thousands of people to make them remember who I am.
My nick name Chocolate will definitely help me in that context. I really like to see people feeling relief, smile and laugh, when I say chocolate. If change in the calling name can bring so many smiles I would have changed it long back.Marvelous :)
Any how with the power rested on me by lord, I am rechristening my nick name to "CHOCOLATE." :)
PS: I am not changing my identity, I am just changing my identification.
PPS: Some said Checks would be much easier name to call but chocolate is much easier to remember.
PPPS: One of my best friend said "baga atti chesavu ra." My response is :)
