Auroville

After almost working on a goal for 12 months I felt like taking a break and finally decided to visit Auroville for 3 days. After coming from Auroville many people asked me what is Auroville. It is very difficult to tell what is Auroville. Most people wont get it at the first place. Even I do not have a clear idea about it. One cannot categorize it because what is happening over there is some thing, which cannot be categorized and should not be categorized. One can only use analogy to explain Auroville  : If it  were a door, it would be a door opening onto another door which opens to another door, which then opens onto yet another door and each door is larger than the one before. Got it? If no please stay at Auroville and do not just visit it.   Coming back to  my experience, after  initial hiccups for finding accommodation we finally ended up at Youth camp, fortunately this is  one of the best place to stay for various reasons. Firstly t...

Valentine’ Eve Special

Being marriages season coincided with valentine’s eve most of the people at office took leave, the population is very meager. I asked one of my colleagues for lunch outside the office. He agreed. Initially we thought of going to any near by dhaba but due to my colleague mood swings we ended up at the “Dialogue in the Dark”, the darkest restaurant in the city.  I initially thought it would be any other restaurant but when we opened the doors I was surprised. It was decorated completely with heart shaped red balloons and bunch of packed gifts on the desk , the staff taking the pictures of the couples who came into and in short  it was in the festive mood of  valentine’s day. The staff are expecting couples. We were the ODD Couple out there.  Obviously we did not receive any special attention from the staff thus got saved from their artificial social niceties or they say customer experience. We waited for our turn to pay the bill. Yes you heard it right. We need t...

Sufism

Image
Sufism is neither a religion nor a cult. Hazrat Inayat Khan, a Sufi philosopher and practitioner himself, describes it as, "Any person who has knowledge of both outer and inner life is a Sufi.” Sufism, as the mystical dimension of Islam, preaches peace, tolerance and pluralism, while encouraging music as a way of deepening one's relationship with the Creator. Based on the mystical branch of Islam, Sufi music seeks to unite listeners with the Divine. The pain of separation from the Creator is at the core of Sufi lyrics and music; and hence the intense longing to dissolve the physical realm and transcend into the spiritual universe with Sama's, the practice of listening to music, chanting and whirling, and finally culminating in spiritual ecstasy. Sound and music is thus central for the core experience of Sufism, since music is regarded as a means for the believer to get closer to the divine. Sufi music therefore is the music of the 'soul' by...

India is all about....

Can we sum up the pulse of India into just  four letters. hmm.. difficult but somebody took the challenge and came up excellently well. India is all about ABCDs : A -- Astrology B -- Bollywood (Movies) C -- Cricket D -- Deals Brilliant isn't !!

Cultural Terrorism

I just heard of the word “ Cultural Terrorism” hit the news channel when the movie “Viswaroopam” was banned in a particular state in India. All the media people were barking, “India is becoming intolerant.“ Though media is quoting that freedom of expression is at state, when did India tolerated freedom of expression at the first place. There are so many movies, books that had a problem to get released in India because some section of people did not liked them and that some section is talking for entire sect. Now a days you just cannot talk your preference openly even on internet. I feel this behavior is coming from Identity crisis. If you are not appearing in media you are out of people ‘s mind. I strongly believe most of the problems we face either in life or corporates where most of us work or the country in which we live is due to the egos of certain leaders. The egos of the leaders do not let them go easy on the things. In a country of millions and millions of peop...

Evolution

When people are asked “what is certain in life?” The most unanimous answer would be Change. When we look at the things from science perspective the word would be “Evolution.”  Humans evolved from animals, animals evolved other species so on and on. But when I think about different cultures, traditions, languages, food, body structures of people and animals across the world I wonder whether the pattern of evolution is same across the world. I guess humans started evolving from animals at different places like America, China, India, Brazil, Egypt, Europe etc., more or less at the same time. I do not think there would be one male or female initially but a group evolved at these places randomly and systematically from other species. I do not want to say humans evolved from lesser species, as the word lesser is relative. I observed a definite pattern almost in all the groups, may be it is already proved in science. The pattern looked like as if it is bound to ha...
