Auroville

After almost working on a goal for 12 months I felt like taking a break and finally decided to visit Auroville for 3 days. After coming from Auroville many people asked me what is Auroville. It is very difficult to tell what is Auroville. Most people wont get it at the first place. Even I do not have a clear idea about it. One cannot categorize it because what is happening over there is some thing, which cannot be categorized and should not be categorized. One can only use analogy to explain Auroville  : If it  were a door, it would be a door opening onto another door which opens to another door, which then opens onto yet another door and each door is larger than the one before. Got it? If no please stay at Auroville and do not just visit it.

Coming back to  my experience, after  initial hiccups for finding accommodation we finally ended up at Youth camp, fortunately this is  one of the best place to stay for various reasons. Firstly trees surround the entire camp such that at any point of the day you wont see the sunlight reaching the ground. Secondly huge free spaces for talking and relaxing at any point of the day with fresh air and serene neighbourhood. Thirdly people after lunch come out of their rooms and dormitories and will start singing, playing musical instruments and others join for tapping. It was just a pleasant sight to see energy flowing out of everybody.

The best way to explore Auroville is to hire a bike and go wherever the road takes you without hesitating. I promise you nobody stops you until it is necessary.

The three best things happened at Auroville are:

Meeting Sadana Forest People:  The first look of the people at sadana forest made me realize that they are very happy. I can see it in their eyes. Not sure of the reason behind it until they started explaining what they are doing.  The amount of effort they had put is worth appreciating. What do they do? They convert barren lands into forests and raise water levels in the ground. The consequences of these actions are exemplary.

School of perfect Sight: Till now I know eyesight can be reduced with laser operation. But my opinion has changed after learning about school of perfect sight. Blindness can be cured without operation for people of all ages. Interesting isn’t?  The school teaches simple but effective techniques to cure blindness for which you have to spent one week at Pondicherry and attend the trainings one hour in the morning and evening and practice the same for rest of your life. The cost of the entire procedure is Rs Zero.

Better Understanding of Yoga: I read yoga means union but I never understood it. After seen the effort put by the people at Aurovielle I started understanding Yoga in a better way.

PS: I came back from Aurovielle with a clear goal. Must about the goal in a latter post.
