Being with a Person

Have you ever wondered what it is to be like just to be with a person? I am not talking about staying with a person or caring /supporting or talking with person just to “BE” with a person. Confused !!! When I heard this four years back I did not understood what it was. Now I am able to get the gist of it. It is very difficult to put down the experience with my limited language skills. One can try to understand this with an experiment. To avoid social embracement, try out with a two to three years old babies. Take a baby and leave him/her on a big hall with toys / any engaging material and just be with baby. Do not interfere, do not cuddle, do not help out (until unless there is harm) just be with baby. Check out what it would be like.It would be a definitely be a nice experience. If enough consciousness is put into, it would be a life altering experience. PS: If you do not get it, it’s ok.

Embracing "the Other"

How many times we have talked about equality in one criterion and then in our actions shown discriminations basing on another criterion. I complain my grand mother is showing discrimination based on caste and then I completely neglect that I am showing discrimination based on habits of the people. Criteria have changed but the issue still remains. I wonder how come we started calling it evolution. Evolution happens when we understand and accept who we are and then work on who/what we wanted to be.   Talking of acceptance is completely distinct from doing it.   It appears across in humans to societies to organizations to countries. Change as charity should start at home but if the scale of change is very high then it should come from people of higher power or responsibility for quick turnaround. I have observed one such thing recently and I am glad that such things are started. Courts have declared and in some countries it has become law that “the o...

MY EYES

I strongly believe a person’s eyes speaks volumes about what the person is inside at any specific point of time than anything else. One can act or fake facial expressions or master body language skills but never can modify what is there in the eyes as it reflects what is inside. I generally look at eyes to gauge what a person is. I stopped looking into my eyes 3 to 4 years back as I could not able to take what is inside me. But last week I was just contemplating on a random thought by looking at the mirror and ended up observing my eyes. I was surprised. My eyes are very clear and have life. I could able to see some spark /twinkle in them may be due to child like innocence, which I brought back into my life. I really savoured that momemt. I gave some time to digest. Honestly I am a dead person 4 years back. There used to be not even single trace of enthusiam in life. It was only fear and irrational male pride that used to rule my life. Now I can see myself as a...

Festival Season

Festival season is on in India. To experience the festive mood you have to be at right places. For Dasara one needs to be in Mysore or Kolkata. For Deevali one needs to be in Mumbai. For Ramzan one needs to be in Hyderabad. For kumbabeshikes one needs to be in Varanasi.  For Vinayaka Chavithi one should be in Hyderabad or Mumbai. Otherwise you can hardly feel the festive vibrancies. Due to inflation, commercialization of each and every thing which thus created additional burden on middle class people is affecting the festive mood slowly. Some people are already showing signs of not actively participating /contributing to the festive mood. I sometimes wonder how I could teach my children about what festival means and why do we celebrate festivals. Last 3 years I was in Bangalore, place where festivals are just restricted to house- holds and mostly to half days. This year I am back to Hyderabad and I can feel the festival mood two to three days before the festival.  F...

Trivikram Srinivas

Image
Trivikram Srinivas does not need any introduction to people who watch Telugu movies. For those who do not know him, the wikipedia link is here . Having come from engineering back ground it took some time for me to appreciate the art work. From last couple of years I am roaming with people who are more inclined to art works. I started practicing playing flute and after some time I took interest in sketching and painting. Any art form requires conscious observation of the surroundings. Without paying attention to the surroundings one cannot become a artist. Coming back to Trivikram Srinivas , I used to enjoy his witty humorous one liners and serious elaborations in all his movies. But never realized what it takes to come up with such stuff. Writing such stuff comes so naturally and so easily to him.Check out the following videos of his speeches: Trivikram Srinivas talking about Siri vennela seeta rama Sastry : Trivikram Srinivas talking about Illayaraja: http://www.youtube.c...

ON DEMAND Phenomenon

I love Ads be it TV commercials or be it Print media. I can see the Ads throughout the day and does not get bored. Ads speak a lot about current state of society and its mind set, commercial company plans and intentions in the future. If you follow ads of a particular industry regularly you can come to know the direction in which the industry is going. Ads primarily help me in identifying the patterns. A flow of things in a pattern is constant. Corporate Leaders identify the patterns in one industry and apply the same in another industry with tailor made changes suited to ones industry. Names are different but the pattern is same. From past 3 to 4 months one common thing I see in almost all the ads (except FMCG) is “ON DEMAND”. What is it? Simply speaking giving customers what he wants without any entanglement. Eg: The first Ad is from TATA SKY, previously it used to air the ads which promote cost, quality and advantages of using TATA SKY but not what customer wants. But now it airs...

Pledged to Donate my Organs

I have been thinking lately for a while to donate my organs but did not find appropriate medium to do so. Finally I found the organization "Mohan Foundation" an NGO which is promoting the awareness to donate the organs since 1976. Met the people, got cleared all my queries and pledged to donate my organs. So people who are interested to donate the organs visit the web page "http://www.mohanfoundation.org/", pledge to donate the organs and carry the donor card with you. Mention the same to your family members and friends.

Nothing Transformed

As Vishnu always say to me :observe the patterns, sometimes I take it seriously. Since last 3 to 4 months I have been reading books on contemporary topics of my father’s age and have been talking, roaming with people who are much younger than me. I have my life in between to connect the dots or draw patterns between 3 generations. What I observed is pretty startling. Generations and Generations are passed by but the pretty nature of life has not transformed much. My observations are as follows: ·           Each Generation was faced with confusion ,agony and turmoil and done nothing to resolve it or address it but passed them to next generation creating even more confusion ,agony and turmoil.             Technology has made life comfortable but the nature of the life has deteriorated. ·           There is absolutely no tolerance for conflicts and indifferences ·     ...

I Can Count the Stars

In my childhood during the night I used to sleep on terrace of my house .Lying on my bed, I used to count the stars to get sleep. My count never crossed 100 as I would have slept by then. After 15 years, When I am sleeping on the terrace of my house and tried to count the stars, I am actually able to count them. Shocked!!! Do not think I am genius. If I can, you can too provided you should be living in Cities. What it has to do with cities?  Everything. The reason I am able to count the stars is that I am able to see a few of them. Due to the air pollution the light coming from most of the stars in not reaching the earth and thus they are not seen. Initially I thought all stars are dead and World is on the verge of ending soon. When I am talking to my friend T about the same, T pointed the root cause of the issue and said that if I could go to the villages I could able to see the stars. The same night after I had the discussion with T, I was watching the SKY and cannot b...

Becoming a little Lighter

Philosophy is in my blood. If you chat with me for 30 min I will atleast refer it 7 to 9 times or perhaps more. People  were puzzled, and even considered  me foolish /stupid and if the person was woman /gal she would go mad. Some people thought I would become sanaysi at one point of time. It has reached a point where for even I do not get a cup of tea I started referring philosophy which made people even more mad and this in turn made me mad. I tried to control it but I could not. As George Bernard had put it more eloquently “ Reading made Don Quixote a gentleman but believing what he read made him mad.” I guess I am Don Quixote in making. I was brought up in a lower middle class Brahim family. Philosophy is everything for us. To get motivation I referred philosophy, to calm myself I referred philosophy, to get answered questions I referred philosophy, if my dad sends my brother out of the house since he did not make it into top 3 of the class I referred philosophy,  wh...

Change Version 2.0

Everybody resists change and feels uncomfortable when encountered one. Then when do the change starts or who starts change. If everybody resists change how can we recognize one. A Quote from the Sarkar Movie goes on similar lines between Sarkar and his wife. Sarkar’s wife: U need to change as per the time Sarkar: If we change as per time how do we recognize the change at the first place. When you go through different books on change , each and every book quotes that u need to start changing within oneself first in order to see a change outside. That does not mean ur driving a change outside or things will change outside but it just means that the way you look the things will change. That is a total discussion altogether. Coming back to the topic on change :who / when would the change start. Each and everybody likes a bit change from their daily routines every now and then. But if you ask them to change the routine itself they will definitely resists. In life at one poi...

No Travel in Summer

I do not know what happened suddenly some of my friends called for going to vacation in Summer and some are asking for suggestions. I simply said them that to take rest at home. There is no point to going on summer vacation in India until and unless u r some unconventional adventurist or a trekker. Here are my reasons for suggesting my friends to take rest at home: ·       First of fall wherever you go you fill find lots and lots of people which leads to long waiting list wherever you go and finally you do not even find enough space for your own self. ·       Prices of hotels / restaurants / taxis for that matter any vehicles will be exuberantly high. ·       Traffic congestion due to huge inflow of vehicles on to the towns / cities which are in capable of handling the congestion. ·       Finally scorching hot weather. You wont feel like coming out during the day and th...

Women’s Day Special

On March 8 th as usual I was getting all the women’s day SMS /FWD messages / email chains. Sitting at my cubicle in the office I was thinking about the all the women I talked   in my last 25 yrs of existence. All the nice conversations, Kodak moments, funny incidents rolled like a reel in front of my mind. The following 3 people’s life I adore the most not because of who they are ? or what they have done in their life but because of how they are leading their lives. The commonality among them is all are good fighters in their life. UDAY’s MOTHER :                  She is my childhood frined’s mother but became one of my best friends during the course of my life. She is always there for me during my low times of life. She used to tell stories to make my low times bearable. She had struggled through out her life in one way or another.Fighting in life has become routine for her.Sometimes she...

Astrology

Last two to three weeks I am hearing about astrology from every 2nd person I have called. One friend was scolding astrologers for making his life a little discomfort by bluffing his parents; another friend’s parents were worried due to a comment made by one astrologer on their daughter’s marriage; my brother was against my family astrologer’s forecast and I myself was in utter shock due to various forecast made various astrologers on various things for various people and ultimately all turned out to utter non-sense. What people say about astrology is it predicts our future on the basic assumption that our life is predestined. Is life predestined? If yes what is the point of doing hard work or for that matter do something / anything in life? We can just sit at one place and wait for the things to happen. I guess the only thing that can happen is DEATH at one point or another and I guess only DEATH is predestined. Destiny, u r destined to sth, etc., are used just to motivate people t...

MY ENGAGEMENT HAD BEEN CALLED OFF

We are drawn to fascination about certain things when we read about them in some blogs or watch in movies or read in some books and hope that if the same things happen in our life without compromise it would be wonderful or at least grateful.Suddenly life hits you and puts u into the ground and say “Honeyyyyyy that is not as easy as you thought or read.” We get up from the ground ,clear the dust from the body and say “ Damnnn !! another fight.” My engagement has been called off by the bride’s side quoting some stupid reason. I wonder is it an excuse they have been looking or the real reason (as u may be never know how a human being thinks). The reason was the bride’s father was not sure of me taking care of his daughter. He said he do not have faith in me. I do not have counter argument for this. I am not a salesman to convince him that if his daughter marries me life is wonderful and happy forever. How wonderful life would be depends on how consciously you lead your li...

Memorable Quote from Three Kings

Archie Gates:    What's the most important thing in life? Troy Barlow:     Respect. Archie Gates:    Too dependent on other people. Conrad Vig:      What, love? Archie Gates:    A little Disneyland, isn't it? Chief Elgin:        God's will. Archie Gates:    Close. Troy Barlow:    What is it then? Archie Gates:    Necessity. Troy Barlow:     As in? Archie Gates:    As in people do what is most necessary to them at any given moment.
